Initiative will increase efficiency and transparency of foodservice supply chains
CHICAGO, April 17, 2017 – HAVI, a global company innovating, optimizing and managing supply chains of leading brands in foodservice, has joined forces with International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA), Kinetic12, a food industry management consulting firm, and research company Datassential to support the development of the first-ever best practices for foodservice supply chain optimization.
The Development Board consists of 15 leading foodservice chain operators including Arby’s, Brinker International, Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Firehouse Subs, FOCUS Brands, Hooters, Potbelly, Sonic, Starbucks, Subway, Topper’s Pizza, Tropical Smoothie, Wendy’s, and Zaxby’s. These operators are working with foodservice manufacturers and distributors to tackle challenges impacting foodservice supply chains. Rich Kamph, Senior Vice President of global supply chain at FOCUS Brands, an SCO initiative participant, said, “This initiative is designed to affect change and bring about solutions for the supply chain issues we all face.”
“The foodservice industry has a distinct advantage because all areas of the supply chain will truly collaborate and build best practices,” added Larry Oberkfell, President and CEO of IFMA. “The goal of this initiative is to create best practices that drive sales by ensuring product in the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity.”
This is the first industry-wide supply chain initiative supported by all major foodservice industry associations, including IFMA, International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA), National Restaurant Association (NRA), National Council of Chain Restaurants (NCCR), Foodservice Sales & Marketing Association (FSMA) and Global Standards One (GS1) – a global, neutral, non-profit standards organization that brings efficiency and transparency to the supply chain.
HAVI brings supply chain management expertise, more than 40 years of experience supporting brands in the foodservice industry to the initiative, and will play an integral role in helping establish supply chain optimization best practices.
“At HAVI, our focus is helping businesses reap the benefits of optimized supply chains,” said Jim Woods, Executive Vice President, analytics and supply chain, HAVI. “We are excited to bring our experience and expertise to the SCO initiative and collaborate with foodservice industry leaders that will enable businesses all across the chain to grow their top lines, reduce costs, gain end-to-end visibility and mitigate risk. Effective supply chain management is not only good for business, but also extremely important for consumers seeking fresh, safe and increasingly diversified foods and flavors.”
The group’s next working session will take place April 20, 2017, in Chicago. Join in to help build supply chain optimization best practices for foodservice with IFMA, HAVI, Kinetic12 and more than 30 other foodservice companies. Learn more here.
